A man spent 29 days in jail after police mistook homemade soap for cocaine.

Alexander Bernstein, 32, of New York, US, was a passenger in a Mercedes-Benz when it was pulled over on Interstate 78 in South Whitehall Township on November 13 2013.

When the car was searched, officers found two brick-size packages, which were covered in clear plastic wrap and red tape.

Annadel Cruz, 26, of New York, who was also in the car at the time, told police they were homemade soaps for her sister.
