Council blares bagpipe music at night to stop homeless people sleeping rough

Loud bagpipe music is being played throughout the night to stop homeless people sleeping rough in Bournemouth.

The nasally sounds are being blasted through speakers at a coach station from midnight until 6.30am – and apparently it’s working.

Local traders were growing concerned about the number of rough sleepers seeking refuge in and around the public toilets at night.

The initiative is the brainchild of Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset Police.
