President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named infamous ‘citizen vigilante’ Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor.
At a press conference held at the flagstaff house, President Akufo-Addo revealed Mr Amidu as his nominee for the office he created after winning power.
Astonishingly, Martin Amidu is an NDC member, a former Attorney General under President John Atta Mills. He has however, become a fierce critic of his own party in recent years.
The Special Prosecutor has been set up by the President to go after government appointees, both past and present, who loot the public purse.
Amidu’s appointment would be subject to Parliamentary approval.
